Ever Tried to Drink Lemon Water for 10 Days?

Apr 16, 2016 | Family Health, Food Facts, General Health

As you might have discovered if you’ve been following the Bum Gun Instagram channel, I recently took a few days break down to Phuket.

Whilst in Phuket my wife wanted to try one of the Detox clinics. This is where they encouraged me to swop my morning cup of coffee with a lemon water drink for 10 to 14 days.

They said I’d experience a ton of positive benefits to my energy levels, mood and general health so I thought I’d give it a shot.

While at the clinic I asked them why a lemon water drink is so healthy and this is what they told me.

They said recent studies show that in cases where toxins have built up in our bodies, the lemon juice and peel have tremendous cleansing properties.

As we know lemons are high in Vitamin C and essential for standard growth and development.

If you’re not up on why Vitamin C is so good for you, here’s why. Vitamin C has a ton of  health benefits waiting for you from help with your cardiovascular system, to help with your eyes and skin wrinkles, down to helping your immune system. Not sure you could say the same about that cup of morning coffee.

Vitamin C also acts as an antioxidant and helps protect your cells from damage caused by free radicals.

How Vitamin C Improves Your Digestion

Do you know that your digestion problems have to do with the health of your stomach? Feeding your body the right things over time builds your body’s ability to process foods better, a lot like building your muscles.

It is believed the citrus flavonoids in lemon water support the hydrochloric acid in your stomach in breaking down your food. Citrus flavonoids act as a great digestive tonic, with appetite suppressing abilities. Vitamin C is also good at calming your upset stomach or mild indigestion. This has to do with the hydrochloric acid in your stomach that starts the process of breaking down your food. Citrus flavonoids are the primary cause of improved digestion when drinking warm lemon water.

They help digest your food, help prevent fatty liver, decrease chances of cardiovascular disease, help lower fat, and reduced insulin sensitivity.

Wowee!! Pretty awesome right? Well, that’s not all…

Fancy a Cheap Detox and Cleanse?

the-bum-gun-lemon-water-benefits-2Research also shows that using lemon water, especially after meals may help lower the toxins in your body.

Toxins come into your systems through various sources: from the air you breathe to some of the foods you eat. The amount of urine is increased when drinking lemon water, however, lemon water brings with it the primary compound known as Citrate.

This is a naturally-occurring inhibitor of toxins which can build up in the form of crystals in the body. The Citric acid enhances your body’s ability to naturally flush out these unwanted toxins. The main premise behind lemon water as a detox revolves around its ability to enhance your bodies enzyme function and stimulate the liver. Basically your liver acts as your body’s filtration system, and lemon water enhances its ability to filter unwanted junk.

A Simple Appetite Suppressant

One of the interesting things the clinic told me was that Vitamin C and lemon water drinks can suppress your appetite, so of course help you lose weight.

Pectin and polyphenols are the main substances found in lemons which have weight loss and appetite suppressing qualities. Pectin will help you feel full like other soluble dietary fibers, that should help reduce caloric intake.

So there you have it. Why not give this Lemon water idea a try? I think it’s worth trying for at least 10 days and see how you feel.

As always, I’d love to hear how you go, so please leave come back and leave a comment or two over your 10 day trial period.
