The first important question you have to answer: Has the toilet clogged itself or did someone put too much toilet paper down it?

I’m sorry, but you need to get your hand in there! But wait!! You can put on a rubber glove first. If you don’t have a glove, you could always use an old coat hanger to clear the debris. Failing that you could wrap your hand in a plastic carrier bag, and collect the toilet paper in another bag, in your other hand.
- Use a plunger for the clogged toilet to remove the clog
The plunger is your best friend when it comes to clogged drains or clogged toilets. The plunger is easy to use and is the most successful way to clear clogs.
There are two types of plungers and you might consider buying if you don’t already have one:
In general, the toilet plunger works with under pressure. If you put the plunger on the toilet drain and start moving the handle up and down you will produce an under pressure / suction in the drain and you will probably remove the clog straight away. Make sure that the rubber of the plunger covers the whole drain to use it efficiently.
Now insert the plunger in the clogged toilet bowl. Then start to press it down and pull it back up – but please do it slowly. As said above please make sure to cover the whole entirely. Also assure that there is still water in the bowl as the plunger works best when it is covered with water.
If the toilet is badly clogged please try to move the handle of the plunger up and down ten times each. If this does not help please repeat the process at least 10 times with stubborn clogs. But do not use the plunger too aggressively as this might jam the toilet even further.
